ASEAN Travelling Fellowship 2005

The Fellowship was inaugurated to provide an opportunity for five ASEAN Fellows to attend the BOA Annual Congress and make a two-week visit of various centres. The Fellows were:

A prospective study of the variation in bone mineral density by anatomical site in patients presenting with proximal humerus fractures

Best of the Best Prize

The best papers from each topic category were presented in two sessions. The first author of the best of these papers was awarded complimentary registration for the 2010 Combined Meeting. The winner was Mr D Langton, on behalf of his co-authors S Jameson, T Joyce, N Ramasetty, S Natu and T Antoni (Stockton), for the paper on The incidence of adverse reactions to metal debris (ARMeD) following hip resurfacing with the articular surface replacement (ASR) and Birmingham Hip Resurfacing (BHR) systems”.

Registrar Prize Papers

Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association Travelling Fellow 2010

Dr Esther Chow was selected as the HKOA Young Ambassador and delivered a paper entitled “Free Gracilis Muscle transfer in patients with severe brachial plexus injury to restore prehensile hand function: Using the brachialis branch of the Musculocutaneous nerve as the donor nerve”

Mr Danyal Nawabi was appointed as the BOA Young Ambassador, but was unable to attend the HKOA meeting in 2010.

Dr Ashok Johari was the IOA Travelling Fellow at the BOA Congress. He presented a paper, “Congenital postero-medial bowing of the tibia and fibula: is early surgery worthwhile?”
