As CEO, Mike's principal focus is on the BOA's future strategy for UK T&O, its influence with the government, DH and partner organisations, the Association's financial health, and above all its attraction to the membership. His previous career in the Royal Navy included 12 years in Whitehall focused on policy, planning, communication and change delivery.

Julia primarily oversees the Policy and Programmes team which is responsible for implementing the strategic and policy strands of BOA business. She also supports the CEO on a range of other work programmes across the organisation. Julia brings invaluable experience having worked at a number of health and biomedical charities in a variety of different roles.

David Adams

Although officially in semi-retirement, David's principal responsibility is providing assistance to
the Editor of BON, which enables the production of the four annual copies of our Members
only newsletter to run smoothly. Having immense personal knowledge of the intricacies of
the BOA through many years in the previous role of CEO, he also provides invaluable advice
to the current CEO and other staff on issues related to our prestigious heritage.


Aimee Alison

Aimee is an integral part of the team being the first point of contact for the British Orthopaedic Association and the first face you see when visiting the offices. Aimee manages the hiring out of the Boardroom as well as the British Casting Certificate Course. She also deals with incoming and outgoing post, responding to your queries and ensuring that the BOA runs smoothly.

Rosanna Raison

Rosanna's role involves working closely with her colleagues in the Policy & Programmes team and the CEO in monitoring policy in relation to the BOA’s core objectives. This includes tracking the changes currently being implemented in the NHS. She also assists in providing executive support to the BOA's Council, Executive group and all BOA committees, in addition to being part of the website development team.

Craig works within the Policy & Programmes team and is responsible for monitoring and assisting in the implementation of policy relating to the BOA and Trauma & Orthopaedics as well as providing executive support to the BOA’s Council, Executive group, the CEO and all BOA committees.

As a member of the Policy and Programmes team Naufil works closely with the BOA’s Executive, Professional Practice Committee and other BOA boards and committees to support delivery of the BOA's data needs; particularly in relation to health care activity and costing, workforce planning and epidemiological data.

Simon Scott was appointed in January 2010 to raise the media profile of the BOA, develop better links with political and governmental decision-makers and improve its communication with members. He is a media specialist whose contacts extend across the entire spectrum of print, broadcast, newswire and .com. He has worked for the COI, Price Waterhouse, Bell Pottinger and Edelman, where he was Head of Media Relations. His clients have included UPS, Commercial Union, Yellow Pages, McGraw-Hill, Coopers & Lybrand, Deloitte, Bank Boston, Richard Ellis, ICN Pharmaceuticals and the Department of Health.

Liz Fry

Liz is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, she and her team are in the process of reconfiguring the financial controls within the BOA. She works closely with the CEO and Treasurer to set the subscription rates, budgets, cash flow and five year forecasts for the BOA. Liz is supported by her team in maintaining the financial systems, accounts and reports in compliance with the Charity Commission's SORP and ensuring the funding integrity, sustainability and future viability of the BOA.

As second in command to our finance Manager Liz, Sherrine spends most of her time recording and reconciling day to day cash movements, invoicing customers and collecting outstanding monies. It also falls under her responsiblilty to take a lead in standardising and improving our current processes.

Leslie maintains the membership records of the Association. Members are our lifeblood and Leslie is adept at ensuring the accuracy of the records and in liaising with members in response to their many queries. She also sends out all the Presidential emails, Meetings Bulletins and other bulk messages to the membership and reports to the Executive 4 times a year with all changes and queries.

 

Hayley Oliver

As one of the finance team, Hayley's main role is in the processing and payment of expense claims and supplier invoices. She also processes cheques received for Subscriptions Invoices, Joint Action and Orthocard™ donations, Casting Courses and Instructional Courses.

 

Miranda Boyce

Miranda is the membership finance assistant. She deals with all queries related to the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Direct Debits. She processes all manual credit card payments for membership subscriptions, instructional courses, casting courses and the annual congress. She assists Liz with the annual renewal run and sends out all subscription reminders.

Hazel co-ordinates and manages the overall ten year programme, this includes the Annual Congress; the Instructional Course; the ABC and ASG Fellowship programmes while in the UK. The Events programme is a core element of the BOA benefits package and business model. Also included in her role is the help and assistance she gives to a number of Specialist Societies in regard to membership issues.

Janet will be known to many event exihibitors and delegates as the face of the exhibition. As such, she has been responsible for the launch of thousands of stands over the years and continues to cajole existing exhibitors to attend again and to introduce new companies to the exhibition.

Claire's role is focused on the planning and work that goes into ensuring our Annual Congress and other BOA-Organised events & courses are successful. Not only to our members and delegates, but to us as an organisation; constantly striving to learn from our experiences to deliver ever stronger and relevant events that meet the diverse needs of our membership. She is also charged with the production of our literature to ensure that we are open and accessible to our membership.

Julia is the sole administrator of UKSSB which is the umbrella organisation of BASS, BSS and SBPR.  The Board also has representation from SBNS and BOA.  Her role is pivotal in helping to realise the full potential of the Board’s activities and to provide communication with and between the officers and members of the three societies and other professional bodies, in addition to interested parties of the healthcare industry and public.  She is responsible for the development of the UKSSB website, as well as arrangement of the annual meetings of each Society and the biennial BritSpine.​
Joint Action & Orthocard

 

Lauren Rich

Lauren spends her time communicating with and engaging our donors and Orthocard™ holders through the creation of quarterly newsletters, responding to donations and encouraging local and regional events. She also manages our grant application process and once successfully awarded, makes sure the projects come into fruition through their regular progress reports that she compiles as part of her support of the Joint Action Advisory Board. She finds it really interesting to understand the background of how medical advance takes place through research, especially as her Grandpa has had numerous hip replacements/revisions which “keep popping out”.

Daniel has accrued many years’ experience within the IT sector, roles have included; supporting end users, developing and expanding infrastructures, web development and marketing through digital media. He has been tasked with supporting the continued expansion of the BOA through technology.
