Disclaimer: The Course will consist of 27 days teaching, with the examination at the end of the course. Depending on the Government guidlines closer to the date, this course may be subject to cancellation on short notice. In the event we have to cancel, we will attempt to reschedule. Students registered will be updated accordingly.

The British Casting Certificate course and examination is validated by the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and the Association of Orthopaedic Practitioners (AOP) and it is a joint award with Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU). 

COURSE FEES
UK & IE Candidates - £3,500.00
International Candidates - £3,525.00

ELIGIBILITY
At least one year's full-time experience in casting application. You must have sufficient theoretical knowledge and experience in caring for patients and outpatients with trauma and orthopaedic conditions. Applicants must be supported by a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, who is a Home Fellow member of the BOA, and from your Line Manager.

PRE-LEARNING
Prior to attending the course, it is a requirement for all candidates to study the theory as shown in the Syllabus. A learning log will also be supplied once accepted onto the course and should be completed before the first day of attendance.

THE INSTRUCTORS
The instructors on the Courses are Orthopaedic Nurses and/or Senior Orthopaedic Practitioners specialising in casting, with additional teaching qualifications. Guest lecturers include Orthopaedic Surgeon's, Clinical Nurse specialists and extended scope Physiotherapists.

COURSE CONTENT
The Content of the course includes underpinning knowledge of anatomy and physiology, trauma and orthopaedics, as well as Cast application techniques. Participants will have experience with a full range of modern materials and will learn how to use their special properties for particular applications.

COMPLETION OF COURSE
A total of 60 credits at University Diploma or Degree Level will be awarded by GCU to students who satisfactorily complete the course and attain a pass in each of the assessments. The assessments comprise a theoretical component (3000 words) and an Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE).

CANCELLATION POLICY
For cancellations between 2-6 weeks of the start of the course there is a 50% cancellation fee.
For cancellations 2 weeks or less of the start of the course there is no refund of course fees.
