BAPRAS Microsurgery Masterclass

8:00AM 20th - 5:00PM 21st May 2019 Venue : Mathematical Institute, Andrew Wiles Building, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Rd, OX2 6GG Specialist Societies

For the first time, the course will combine a lecture programme with practical sessions using 14 binocular desk top microscopes. The practical sessions will permit participants to practice vascular and neural repair techniques whilst being coached by microsurgical experts. We will have various models available.

Come and learn new techniques to manage moving targets, vessel mismatch, venous interposition grafts, supra-microsurgery, fancy knots

  • Try new technologies such as venous couplers, (including new end to side methods), neural conduits etc.
  • Learn how to detect perforators and plan flaps using thermal imaging, dopplers and ultrasound.
  • Try your hand at the “top gear” fastest anastomosis leader board.

The lecture sessions have a theme of innovation and the practical and include tips from other specialities neurosurgery, orthopaedics, cardiac and urology. Sessions on how to get out of trouble, how to perform new flaps, technical aspects and tips from a variety of UK and International speakers and microsurgeons.
