The BOA Human Factors Bootcamp prepares new trauma and orthopaedic trainees with the capabilities to excel during their training.

Participants should be ST3 or ST4 at the time of booking the course or have been offered an ST3 position.

Study Leave

Those applying for any course must have their study leave approved in advance by their TPD. As part of your participation, the BOA will include your named AES in the action planning process and any assessments done during either programme.  We hope this will help you access the required ongoing support in your workplace.

Course Content
The two-day course focuses on professional capabilities underpinned by an understanding of human factors which will allow the participants to thrive throughout their career.   Scenario based learning and formative assessment will be offered by a skilled and enthusiastic faculty.

Cost
Participants are required to make a £100 contribution to meet the costs of the course. The remaining significant cost will be met by an educational grant from Zimmer Biomet. All course materials, tuition, refreshments and VAT are included. Please note the BOA will not cover travel or accommodation costs.

Accommodation
Each participant is responsible for their own accommodation and associated costs.

Information for those booking the BOA Bootcamp courses
 

Please note that these courses are available to book only by paid-up members of the BOA who are in membership grades CT2, ST2, ST3 and ST4.

If you are a member of the BOA but have outstanding membership subscriptions due, please contact the BOA office during working hours to pay your membership fee in order to be able to book onto the course.

If you are not yet a member of the BOA, you can apply here. You can contact the BOA office and we can hold a space for you briefly while your membership is processed. In order to secure the place you will need to pay your 2019 membership fee promptly once membership is approved using BACs or Credit Card (and not by Direct Debit because this takes several weeks to be set-up).

If you are a member at a different membership grade wishing to book onto the course please contact the BOA office – and please note this course is aimed at those commencing ST3 posts.
