PHIN (Private Healthcare Information Network) has been tasked with implementing a series of CMA (Competition and Market Authority) remedies to increase transparency in privately funded healthcare.

We have published three documents to help our members in relation to this initiative (downloadable below). As of 13th September 2018, publication of information at surgeon level on the PHIN website has occurred for the first time, and our documents have been updated to reflect this. The BOA continues to monitor developments.

Documents for download

1) For members who would like to know more about the background to this initiative and how this affects T&O surgeons we have prepared a background briefing document for this purpose (Updated 13 Sept 2018).

2) The BOA has been working collaboratively with PHIN and sees it as important to be closely involved in the work on this initiative, given the large number of our members who are likely to be affected by it. We have published a position statement document that outlines the view we have taken on various issues (Updated 13 Sept 2018).

3) In November 2017, PHIN launched its Consultant Portal giving the opportunity for consultants to check their data and we provided members with specific information at this time (paper published November 2017).
