F&A trauma topics revalidation for all trauma-interested T&O Surgeons - F&A and all those on trauma rotas/on call.
The British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) is pleased to present an afternoon programme at the BOA Annual Congress, bringing together reflective practice, patient safety and scientific excellence. Designed for both specialist foot and ankle surgeons and general orthopaedic and trauma surgeons, the programme offers practical learning that can be applied immediately to everyday clinical practice.
The afternoon opens with the BOFAS Revalidation Session, with a programme focused on improving patient safety through shared learning. Using real clinical cases, expert faculty will reflect on common diagnostic pitfalls, complex decision-making and complications that continue to challenge trauma surgeons. Covering medicolegal learning, missed injuries, diabetic foot emergencies and time-critical trauma, the session aims to provide practical strategies that improve clinical judgement, reduce avoidable harm and enhance patient outcomes.
This is followed by the prestigious Naughton Dunn Lecture, one of the highlights of the BOFAS scientific programme. This year's lecture, "Primum Non Nocere: Reflections on Safety, Complications and the Moral Burden of Surgery," will be delivered by Mr Hari Prem. Through personal reflection and decades of surgical experience, the lecture will explore the responsibilities of modern surgeons, the impact of complications and the enduring importance of professionalism, compassion and patient-centred care.
The afternoon concludes with the Scientific Committee Session – Best of the Best Papers, showcasing the highest-ranked scientific abstracts selected through a rigorous peer-review process. Featuring outstanding original research from leading clinicians and emerging investigators, this session highlights the latest advances in foot and ankle surgery and provides delegates with an insight into innovations that are shaping future clinical practice.

Yaser Ghani is a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon at Homerton University Hospital in London. He completed his undergraduate medical training at University College London (UCL) and pursued specialist orthopaedic training in London through the Stanmore rotation. He undertook prestigious Foot & Ankle fellowships in Windsor, St. Mary’s London, and Oxford.
He is actively involved in research and education and developed the BOFAS ‘Lectures of Distinction’ webinar series in collaboration with the BOFAS Education and IT Committees. Yaser also serves on the BOFAS EDI Working Group working towards bringing equality, diversity and inclusivity in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery. He has a passion for education and training and serves as an invited faculty member on numerous national and international courses.
Anna Chapman is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at University Hospitals, Coventry and Warwickshire, with a specialist interest in Foot and Ankle surgery.
She qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’s Hospitals School of Medicine in London and completed her Orthopaedic training on the Warwick rotation. She undertook Fellowship training in Bournemouth and Bristol, and was appointed as a Consultant in 2012. She completed a Masters Degree in Medical Education at the University of Warwick in 2010 and continues to pursue her interest in all things educational.
Anna is currently the Lead Training Programme Director for the West Midlands and is the Portfolio Pathway Lead for the T&O Specialist Advisory Committee. She has served two terms on the BOFAS Education Committee (2015-2023) and a term as BOFAS EDI Lead (2023-2025). She is currently the Chair of the BOFAS Education Committee.
Bakur Jamjoom is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, specialising in foot and ankle surgery. He trained on the East Midlands North rotation and holds a Master of Surgery from the University of Edinburgh. He completed post-CCT fellowships at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore, developing expertise in foot and ankle trauma, total ankle replacement and hindfoot reconstruction.
He has published peer-reviewed research and book chapters on revision total ankle replacement and complex hindfoot surgery. He has presented his work at national and international conferences. He is actively involved in postgraduate education and is an enthusiastic trainer.
Nijil Vasukutty is a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle surgeon with his NHS practice based in United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust. He completed his foot and ankle training in Southampton University Hospital and University Hospital of South Manchester, followed by Diabetic Foot training at King's College Hospital. He has maintained a keen interest in research with several publications in foot and ankle surgery and lower limb arthroplasty in addition to large number of national and international presentations. Mr Vasukutty has a postgraduate qualification in medical education from University of Glasgow. His educational roles include Academic Lead for Orthopaedics at University of Lincoln Medical School, College Tutor and Specialty Education Lead at United Lincolnshire Hospitals (Boston site). His current research interests are mainly around diabetic foot surgery.
Toby Jennison is a Consultant orthopaedic foot & ankle surgeon at University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust. He completed a Foot & Ankle Fellowship in Sheffield Teaching Hospital and was a TIG Major trauma fellow at University Hospital Birmingham. Toby also worked with the NJR as a research Fellow.
Mr Sultan Qasim is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in foot and ankle surgery in Newcastle. He completed his orthopaedic training in the East Midlands and fellowship training at Wrightington Hospital.
He leads a tertiary service for Charcot Reconstruction and tertiary referral service for complex neurological foot and ankle deformities at Freeman Hospital.
He contributes to national and international orthopaedic training courses, supervises medical students at Newcastle University, and has led national multi-centre studies and published on ankle injury rehabilitation, ankle fractures, diabetic foot disease, and total ankle replacement.
