Nick Clement is a Consultant at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and is a Visiting Professor at Sunderland University. He is also the network clinical research lead for orthopaedics for the Chief Scientist Office in Scotland and is an NIHR Senior Investigator. Nick's clinical practice focuses on primary hip and knee arthroplasty and hip fracture care. His clinical research has focused upon both arthroplasty and trauma to date, and he hopes to continue this broad research interest. However, he aims to focus on improving patient-reported outcomes after knee arthroplasty, with the implementation of new technologies.
Mr Oussedik is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon who specialises in knee surgery for sports injuries and degenerative conditions.
He has authored 60+ scientific articles and published 4 books on knee surgery and trauma.
He is clinical lead of Trauma and Orthopaedics & Director of Surgical Education at UCLH, Honorary Associate Professor at UCL, Clinical Governance Lead and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee at the Lister Hospital.
David Beard is an internationally recognised expert in the evaluation of surgical innovation, holding roles as Professor of Musculoskeletal and Surgical Sciences, and Rosetrees RCS Eng Oxford (Surgical Trials Centre) Chair at the University of Oxford, and Professor and Director of Research Partnerships at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney, with a specialist role as Surgical & Complex Intervention Trials Lead. He is Co-Chief Investigator of the NIHR REINFORCE study, a large-scale evaluation of the safety, effectiveness, implementation and health economics of robotic surgery across multiple specialties.
Andy Metcalfe is a Professor at Warwick Clinical Trials Unit and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW). His clinical practice is in knee surgery including patellofemoral problems, sports surgery, osteotomy and arthroplasty.
He leads multiple high-impact clinical trials, including RACER-Knee, START:REACTS (both published in The Lancet) as well as currently running trials such as METEOR2 and REPPORT. He was Research Lead for the British Association for Surgery of the Knee 2019-2023, is Secretary of the British Patellofemoral Society, and has been involved in multiple NICE guidelines. He has led the clinical academic training in T&O at Warwick and UHCW for many years, taking people through foundation training, academic clinical fellow posts and PhD fellowships through to Clinical Lecturer posts and beyond.
Andy now leads a body of work focused on delivering effective innovations to patient care, and is the Chief Medical Officer of a spin-out company supported by Orthopaedic Research UK delivering research on new medical devices called Veriq.
Peter is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip surgery at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. His research interests are the clinical effectiveness and safety of musculoskeletal interventions. He is the Co-Chief Investigator with Professor Ed Davis for the RACER-Hip Study; a multi-centre, blinded RCT comparing clinical and cost-effectiveness of robotic assisted total hip replacement to conventional total hip replacement for adults with hip osteoarthritis.
Jeremy Rushbrook qualified from the University of Leeds and completed his surgical training in Yorkshire before his Fellowship in Brisbane with Dr Peter Myers. He is a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Portsmouth Hospitals University Trust and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth. His specialist interest is knee surgery, particularly with regards to robotic-assistance which has been a routine part of primary elective practice at the Trust in Portsmouth since 2018.
He set up and manages the Major Revision Centre for the South East Central Region and over the last few years has been exploring the practical application of robotic assistance in the revision setting, including the opportunities and challenges associated with incorporating this technology into complex primary and revision knee arthroplasty.
