Mr Ghulam Abbas is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon at the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is a fellowship trained spinal surgeon. After completing his higher surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedics in Yorkshire, he sub-specialised in spinal surgery. Abbas did his spinal surgery training at Nottingham, Leeds and Sheffield spinal units.
Abbas is currently President of British Pakistani Orthopaedic Society (BPOS)
Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon, NHS Fife
Mr Akhtar is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic surgeon currently working as a consultant in NHS Fife and specialising in lower limb arthroplasty, arthroscopy, trauma and sports injuries. He completed his Fellowship in Sydney on “Lower Limb Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty and Osseointegration," and “Speciality Training in Trauma and Orthopaedics” in the Northeast of England. He was awarded an “MD” from the University of Edinburgh, studying the role of “Hypermobility in ACL injuries and Shoulder instability.” He completed the “Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine” from the Royal College of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, and passed the National Intercollegiate Fellowship exam “FRCSEd (Trauma & Orthopaedics)” and “European Fellowship exam in Orthopaedics and Traumatology (FEBOT)” in 2018.Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Mr Sanjeev Anand works in the specialist knee unit at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He has a tertiary-level practice in Soft tissue knee and knee reconstructive surgery including paediatric knees.
He is a founder member and Academic chair for the International Society for Knowledge for Surgeons on Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty (ISKSAA) and is the Executive Editor for Journal of Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery. Mr. Anand has led in developing national guidelines for ACL reconstructions. He has also contributed to the development of national guidelines for arthroscopic knee surgery and patellofemoral problems.
He is currently the Education secretary for the British Indian Orthopaedic Society and an executive member of the BOSTAA and British Patellofemoral Society.

Resigned in march 2002 aged 46 from government job and started orthopaedic and spine set up in Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital April 2002 until now - a 250 bedded 10 modular, ORs made in Germany and the only AOspine recognised spine training centre.
250 FCPS Orth so far and fellows from 12 countries to date. Best orthopaedic training centre by POA 2023. Every orthopaedic subspecialty under one roof: trauma musculoskeletal and spine dealt with within 24/48 hrs, ILIZAROV Scoliosis, MISS tubular endoscopic and UBE TB spine standalone cage, paediatric orthopaedics, foot and ankle mark Myerson unit, hand and upper limb sports injuries, CP Polio neglected trauma, arthroscopic surgery, limb lengthening, tumours surgery, Cyberknife Pain management, joint replacements (hip, knee, shoulder, elbow).
All subspecialties headed by foreign fellowship trained consultants FCPS Orth approved centre FCPS spine. The only approved centre for this, the second two year fellowship programme in Pakistan, 6 professors, 3 Associates, 8 APs ,5 SRs and 50 FCPS trainees at any one time. Fellows for spine arthroplasty, trauma, paediatric orthopaedics, ILIZAROV Foot and Ankle, Sports injuries, arthroscopic surgery and hand. 12000 major ops per annum and did not take a day off in COVID-19 Pandemic.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon & Immediate Past BOA President, Great Ormond St Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital
Deborah Eastwood is an Associate Professor of Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, UCL. She works at Great Ormond St Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. Deborah works in the generality of paediatric orthopaedic surgery but has a particular interest in children with overgrowth syndromes, metabolic bone diseases and those with neurological problems. She is also the surgeon for the GOSH Ponseti service.
Deborah is the Immediate Past President of the British Orthopaedic Association, a past president of EPOS (European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society) and a past board member of BSCOS (British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery and the Council of Management for the Bone and Joint Journal .

Mr Sunil Garg works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the James Paget University Hospital Foundation NHS Trust, Great Yarmouth with a special interest in Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgery. Mr Garg is the current President of the British Orthopaedic Indian Society and actively supports exchanging Orthopaedic knowledge, training, education and research in the UK.

Bob Handley has been a Consultant on the Trauma Service at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford since 1994. Bob is currently President of the British Orthoapedic Association, and National Clinical Lead for GIRFT Orthopaedic Trauma. He has been President of both AOUK and the Orthopaedic Trauma Society, and has chaired the NICE guideline development group. Bob was also an examiner for FRCS T&O for ten years.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore
Tahir Khan is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon currently working at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore in the Young Adult Hip Unit.
He was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Central Manchester University Hospitals in October 2002, where he established a high quality lower limb and children's orthopaedic surgery practice before relocating to Stanmore in May 2013. He trained in the north-west of England (Sheffield, Birmingham and Manchester) and undertook specialist fellowship training in the USA, Toronto, Canada, and Mainz, Germany. He was also awarded the prestigious American - British - Canadian (ABC) fellowship in 2004 by the British Orthopaedic Association.
Prof. Khan is passionate about research. His research interests include arthroscopic hip surgery in children and adults, joint replacement in young adults, gait analysis in children and cerebral palsy. He is a member of faculty in regional, national and international conferences /courses in areas of his interest.
He enjoys alpine trekking and reading in his spare time.

Mr. Ansar Mahmood serves as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at University Hospital Birmingham. Specializing in the treatment of complex musculoskeletal injuries, Mr. Mahmood provides comprehensive, patient-focused care. His work not only enhances clinical outcomes but also contributes significantly to the field of orthopaedic surgery through ongoing research and the training of future surgeons.
Consultant Neurosurgeon, King’s College Hospital
Mr Malik is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at King’s College Hospital, London with more than 20 years’ experience. He is recognised as a leader in complex spine surgery with specific expertise in minimally invasive, endoscopic, keyhole surgery. He has pioneered several endoscopic spinal procedures, is one of few surgical references for the United Kingdom and has established King’s College Hospital as a training centre for endoscopic spinal surgery, training junior doctors in these procedures.
Mr Irfan Malik completed advanced neurosurgical training at The Royal Hallamshire Hospital and the University Hospital, Coventry & Warwickshire between 2001-2006. Following this he obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (SN) and then enhanced his experience by completing fellowships in complex spine and epilepsy surgery from University Hospital Coventry and King’s College Hospital.Mr Malik’s areas of expertise include the assessment and treatment (both surgical and non-surgical) of all spinal conditions. His busy practice includes the management of degenerative, traumatic and malignant spinal surgery. Mr Malik is an expert in the use of minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of neck pain, back pain, arm pain and sciatica. Mr Malik is renowned across the UK and internationally as a leader in minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques, robotic spine surgery and navigated spine surgery.Mr Malik has extensive experience in both minimally invasive as well as traditional open spinal surgery techniques.
In addition to his busy spinal practice, Mr Malik is a well-established epilepsy surgeon. He uses minimally invasive surgical techniques in the treatment of epilepsy. Mr Malik is an integral part of the UK Lead Vagal Nerve Stimulator (VNS) Programme.
Mr Irfan Malik is part of the International Faculty for Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Society for all aspects of spine surgery. He is a member of the International Society for Minimal Intervention in Spinal Surgery (ISMISS), British Association of Spine Surgery (BASS), European Spine Society and North American Spine Society (NASS).
Mr Malik has published extensively across peer review papers, abstracts and book chapters and regularly lectures and teaches in workshops for Minimally Invasive Surgery and Endoscopic Spine Surgery.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust
Mr Rizwan Shahid is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Lower Limb Arthroplasty & Trauma surgery, working in the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
He graduated from University of the Punjab in 1996, followed by 4 years FCPS Trauma & Orthopaedic training in level 1 trauma centre in Lahore. He moved to UK in 2003 and after getting his MRCS, he completed subspecialty rotation in Trauma and Orthopaedics and worked in Merseyside region followed by Lincolnshire. After getting his FRCS T&O, he undertook his training in Wrightington, Merseyside, York and Lincoln, and, completed a one year Fellowship in Lower Limb arthroplasty at Wrightington Hospital, in 2015 and Knee fellowship in York teaching hospitals, in 2016. He has been invited to talk in national and international venues, mainly about hip and knee surgery. He is NHFD Lead for ULHT and Speciality lead for University of Lincoln Medical students.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital
Mr Abdul Waheed is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital. He specialises in hip and knee disorders including primary routine and complex total hip and knee replacement, and arthroscopic knee surgery.
He also has extensive experience in trauma, both in children as well as adults.
Mr Waheed has extensive experience in lower limb total joint replacement and reconstruction. As well as treating degenerative disorders (arthritis), he offers treatment for knee injuries including meniscus repair, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and patellofemoral instability/mal-tracking.
Mr Waheed’s main research interests lie in Rapid Recovery Programme after joint replacement. This technique aims to improve patients’ experience of care and expedite recovery from joint replacement in the shortest possible time, without compromising safety. He is the Orthopaedic lead for Rapid Recovery Programme in his NHS post.
