BOA Session
As the NHS is changing and both pathways and the workforce are becoming more stretched, there is increasing focus on minimising harm. This session will focus on opportunities and technologies to de-risk the trauma pathway. Including innovations such as AI, how to manage missed injuries, and the role of NHS resilience.
Chair: Bob Handley
Bob Handley is currently National Clinical Lead for GIRFT Adult Orthopaedic Trauma. Bob was a Consultant on the Trauma Service at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford from 1994-2025. He is a Past President of the British Orthoapedic Association President, the Orthopaedic Trauma Society and AOUKI. He co-chaired the NICE guideline development groups on fractures and was a member of the group for hip fractures. He was also an examiner for FRCS T&O for ten years.
Bob trained in Sheffield, Newcastle, Sunderland and Seattle. After qualifying he worked for the British Antarctic Survey for 3 years.
