Emily Baird is a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh, with an interest in paediatric trauma, and congenital conditions of the hip and foot. She trained primarily in the West of Scotland with Fellowships in Edinburgh and Toronto.
Emily is passionate about increasing diversity and inclusion in the workforce and broadening access to orthopaedics through mentorship and medical education. She is heavily involved in providing medical student education as an Undergraduate Lead, and Post Graduate Education as Training Programme Director for Orthopaedic Trainees in South East Scotland and examining for FRCS Tr & Orth.
She is the Chair of the Education Committee of The British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers, Faculty Member for Non-Technical Skills for Surgeons and Tutor for the MSc in Patient Safety and Human Factors.
She lives in Edinburgh with her husband and two young boys, and likes to dance and run!

Meg is keen on medical education having set up the Future Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Yorkshire Association, which supports junior trainees to get into orthopaedics. She is also VP and helped found the Yorkshire Educational Surgeons Collaborative to promote the improvement of surgical education for trainees across Yorkshire. She also acts as the BOTA Rep on the ASiT council and is an advocate for improving training,

Mr Loughenbury is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon in Leeds, he completed his medical training at Leeds University, and was a specialist registrar in Yorkshire. He has completed a number of fellowships including one in Brisbane. He has an advocate for training, and keen to improve education within his deanary. Demonstrated by him winning Trainer of the Year 2024
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon North Tees
Mr Andrew Cattell is a specialist knee surgeon with particular expertise in sports knee injuries.
was appointed to James Cook University Hospital in 2019 where he maintained a busy NHS practice managing major orthopaedic trauma with an elective practice focused on knee complaints. He subsequently moved to North Tees Hospital in 2024 to focus on his elective surgical interests.
He has maintained an interest in medical education and is the educational lead for the orthopaedic department. He is the clinical supervisor for several registrars and teaches on both local and national specialist orthopaedic exam courses. His ability to educate was demonstrated in his nomination and subsequently being runner up in trainer of the year 2024
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon North Staffordshire
Mr Lim is a Hip and knee surgeon who completed his undergraduate training at University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, he completed higher surgical training as part of the stoke oswestry rotation.
In 2006, he was appointed as a consultant at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, University Hospital North Midlands NHS Trust. Since then he has gained an excellent reputation amongst patients as well as his fellow surgeons.
He was nominated to and has held roles within the University Hospital of North Midlands/ Royal Stoke University Hospital. He is well liked by trainees which led to his nomination for Trainer of the Year 2024 for which he was runner up.
