BESS Revalidation Session in Elbow Injuries - Elbow Trauma: Principles, Pitfalls and Contemporary Management

The nuances of dealing with Elbow trauma remains an area where understanding of injury patterns and management principles can be variable, and in some cases based on dated concepts.

In recent years, there has been a significant expansion in both the quantity and quality of research within elbow surgery, leading to improved understanding of injury mechanisms, classification systems, and treatment strategies. The British Elbow & Shoulder Society revalidation session will highlight the key management principles and translate them into practical guidance for the wider orthopaedic community.

This session aims to provide a contemporary, structured update on elbow trauma through a series of focused, interactive talks by experts, supported by case-based discussion. Emphasis will be placed on practical decision-making, recognition of key injury patterns, and principles of both immediate and definitive management.

The session is designed to be highly relevant to general orthopaedic surgeons, trainees, and those involved in acute trauma care, both in adult and paediatric elbow injuries.
