Session Title: Pitfalls of Virtual Fracture Services – Missed Shoulder/Elbow Injuries
Session Description:
In August 2013, the British Orthopaedic Association set up guidelines for patients to be seen in a new fracture clinic within 72 hours following an acute traumatic orthopaedic injury. Due to the immense burden on fracture clinics, to adhere to these standards of care, almost all NHS trusts across the UK, now have Virtual Fracture Services set up, which involves remote review of casenotes and imaging by an Orthopaedic Consultant fairly soon but injuries are missed due to lack of formal clinical examination of patients. This session hopes to cover all such injuries around the shoulder and elbow with a view to reduce the incidence of this happening.
