Session Title: BOFAS Revalidation Session
Chair & Co-Chairs: Yaser Ghani & Robert Clayton
Session Description
The BOFAS Revalidation Session at the 2025 BOA Annual Congress will deliver a focused and clinically relevant update on the contemporary management of complex foot and ankle trauma. Designed to support revalidation and continuing professional development, this session offers concise, evidence-based overviews of challenging fracture patterns and high-risk patient groups.
Key topics will include fracture dislocations of the talus, calcaneal injuries, Lisfranc and medial column trauma, as well as the optimisation of ankle fracture care in patients with osteoporosis or diabetes. The session will explore both surgical decision-making and practical management strategies, emphasising advances in fixation techniques, risk mitigation, and patient outcomes.
Each talk will be structured to provide high-yield learning in a short format, followed by time for discussion and audience engagement. Delegates will benefit from expert insights, real-world case considerations, and practical guidance applicable across trauma and elective practice.
This session is particularly relevant for orthopaedic surgeons with an interest in foot and ankle surgery, trauma management, or those preparing for appraisal and revalidation. It aims to enhance confidence in managing complex injury patterns and inform current standards of care.
Delegates are strongly encouraged to stay on for the prestigious Naughton Dunn Lecture, a highlight of the Congress programme. This year’s lecture promises a unique and thought-provoking perspective on the complexities of treating musculoskeletal conditions in elite athletes, offering broader reflections on precision care, performance, and innovation in orthopaedics.
