Julie Craig

Orthopaedic Specialty Doctor, Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast

Julie Craig is the SAS representative on the BOA education & careers committee. 

She works as an Orthopaedic Specialty Doctor in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. 

Julie graduated from Queen’s University in Belfast, and has since completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Education at Queen’s University, and a Master’s degree in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University. She is now an undergraduate educational lead for fractures for Queen’s University Belfast. 

She teaches quality improvement and leadership skills to doctors in the Belfast Trust as part of the QI faculty. 

Julie has a special interest in clinical data analysis and project design and is the Belfast Trust’s specialty improvement lead for their fracture inpatient database. She is also the Northern Ireland representative on the NHFD advisory group and a member of the RCP’s FFFAP committee. 

Julie’s publications include peer-reviewed journals and chapter contributions to a trauma and orthopaedic nursing textbook. She has received prizes for Best Presentation at the British Trauma Society, Best Abstract at the Irish Hip Fracture Database Annual Meeting, the Bone and Joint Journal Prize, and a “highlight paper" at the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. 

Robert Fleming

Clinical Associate Professor at University of Lincoln, and SAS Anaesthetist, Sherwood Forest Hospital

Dr Robert James Fleming is a Specialist (SAS) Anaesthetist at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor and the Director of Admissions at Lincoln Medical School. He is a former SAS Committee Chair and Honorary Membership Secretary at the Association of Anaesthetists. He was a founding member of the SAS Advocate Network in England, and the "SAS Collective" campaign group. He is a vocal proponent of SAS careers. 

Mohamed Hashem

Foot and Ankle Consultant. RCS England Faculty and Council Member, Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital

A Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Footand Ankle, Minimally Invasive and Diabetic Foot Surgery. He holds FRCS (T&O), FEBOT and FACS and has more than 18 years’ experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics across the UK and internationally, including fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery, limb reconstruction, and orthopaedic trauma.

He currently practises as a Foot and Ankle Consultant within the NHS, with experience encompassing complex Foot and Ankle trauma, elective surgery, diabetic foot management and minimally invasive Foot andAnkle surgery. His clinical practice is complemented by a strong commitment to education, research, leadership, and service improvement.

Mr Hashem is a Fellow and elected Council Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Faculty member and Course Director, an active member of the RCS SAS Forum, and a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Society Research Committee and the JCIE Committee. He is an active member of the AOFAS Postgraduate Educational Committee. He is also Founder and Chair of OrthoXcel and Educational Chair of the British Egyptian Orthopaedic Society.

His academic interests include Foot and Ankle surgery, minimally invasive techniques, diabetic foot surgery, trauma, medical education and clinical research. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to national and international collaborative studies, and regularly presents at major orthopaedic meetings including BOA, BOFAS, EFORT and SICOT

Neel Dalal

Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedics, University hospital of North Midlands

I have trained in Liverpool and done knee fellowships at Oswestry and paediatric knee fellowship at Sheffield children hospital ,work now as a Consultant in trauma and orthopaedics at one of the busiest trauma centre in UK ( university Hospital of North Midlands) with main interest in managing adult and paediatric soft tissue knee along with major trauma. I am trying to set up a paediatric soft tissue knee services for the midland region.

Yuri Kulikov

Specialty Doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics

Mr Kulikov is a Specialty Doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics with a broad research background and an eye on clinical practice improvement and innovation. He is a passionate proponent of SAS grade development as a career pathway in its own right.

He is particularly interested in Trauma and Orthopaedic research methodology and support of novel research ideas integral to clinical practice. He started career in the Vreden Russian Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, worked with the Centre for Orthopaedic Biomechanics (University of Bath) and Warwick Orthopaedics group Warwick Medical School), where he completed PhD in research methodology specific to surgical studies. He currently explores development of technology assisted joint surgery.
