Session Description: Delayed or missed interventions in fracture care can lead to avoidable complications and less than optimal results. This interactive session features a panel of experts who will present real-life cases illustrating both the benefits of timely treatment and the drawbacks of missed opportunities. Engaging in case discussions and audience participation, the session will offer practical guidance to enhance decision-making and improve outcomes in challenging fracture scenarios.

Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Mr Sanjeev Anand works in the specialist knee unit at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He has a tertiary-level practice in Soft tissue knee and knee reconstructive surgery including paediatric knees.
He is a founder member and Academic chair for the International Society for Knowledge for Surgeons on Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty (ISKSAA) and is the Executive Editor for Journal of Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery. Mr. Anand has led in developing national guidelines for ACL reconstructions. He has also contributed to the development of national guidelines for arthroscopic knee surgery and patellofemoral problems.
He is currently the Education secretary for the British Indian Orthopaedic Society and an executive member of the BOSTAA and British Patellofemoral Society.

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust
Mr Bajaj completed his orthopaedic training in London (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital South East Orthopaedic Training Programme). He also undertook paediatric orthopaedic fellowships at Sheffield Children Hospital and Royal National Hospital in Stanmore. He has also been a travelling foot and ankle fellow in Switzerland and the Netherlands.
His special interests include bunion surgery, forefoot reconstruction for rheumatoid, failed bunion surgery, Morton’s neuroma, surgery for arthritis of foot and ankle, ankle arthroscopy, ankle replacement, sports injury to foot and ankle, ankle ligament repair, tendon disorders around foot and ankle (tibialis posterior, peroneal tendons, achilles tendon) and plantar fasciitis.
He is a member of British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and British Society for Childrens Orthopaedic Surgery (BSCOS).
Mr Bajaj has written textbook chapters, some of which feature in prominent orthopaedic textbooks, such as Mercer’s textbook of Orthopaedics. He is a very keen teacher and has been invited as faculty to many popular orthopaedic training courses.

Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, Birmingham Children’s Hospital
Ms Sheba Basheer is a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. She has a tertiary practice specialising in Lower Limb Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery, particularly paediatric knee and foot and ankle surgery.

Dr Anup Agrawal is the current President of the Indian Orthopaedic Association and a former President of the Asia Pacific Trauma Society. He will share his extensive experience managing complex trauma cases.

Limb Reconstruction and Trauma Surgeon, Leeds Major Trauma Centre.
Mr Paul Harwood serves as a leading Limb Reconstruction and Trauma Surgeon at Leeds Major Trauma Centre, specialising in the management of complex trauma cases. Renowned for his advanced surgical skills in restoring function to severely injured limbs, he is dedicated to delivering personalised patient care. Mr Harwood is actively involved in research and education, contributing to the advancement of his field. He also holds the role of Deputy Training Program Director (North) for Trauma & Orthopaedics in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery and is Editor-in-Chief of the Strategies in Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Journal.

Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon , Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham
Mr Haleem completed his Higher Orthopaedic Training Programme obtaining his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from the prestigious London Deanery where he was inspired to take up a career in Spinal Surgery.
He has consequently actively worked towards developing and enhancing his specialist skills in world class training centres both in the United Kingdom and worldwide. He has also gained the Eurospine Spine Diploma and the Eurospine Advanced Spine Diploma during this process.
His three complex fellowships at the world-class and cutting-edge Oxford, St. George’s and Southampton University Hospitals provided a unique opportunity to work closely with several leading lights in spinal surgery (both orthopaedic and neurosurgical colleagues) in Major Trauma Centres exposing him to a wide range of degenerative, trauma and elective experiences involving the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral spine that have shaped his patient-centred, empathic yet scientific and thoughtful approach to patient care.
He has travelled overseas on prize-winning fellowships to Hong Kong and Istanbul to improve his spinal and paediatric skills at renowned centres where he gained immensely from leading spinal experts. He is known to be a thinking surgeon who always tries to find a better way of improving patient care and outcomes, this is evidenced in his two classifications that enhance patient safety and care.
