Deepa Bose

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Trauma and Limb Reconstruction, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

Deepa Bose is a consultant in orthopaedic trauma and limb reconstruction at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.  Her practice is exclusively in adults, and includes general trauma, major trauma and post-traumatic limb reconstruction: osteomyelitis, malunion, non-union, limb lengthening & deformity correction.

She is currently Hono0rary Secretary of the BOA and has previously been Chair of the Specialist Advisory Committee for Trauma & Orthopaedics and the lead for CESR approval process.  She has also contributed to the revision of the curriculum.  She holds an MSc in Medical Education and has been admitted to the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of RCS Edinburgh, as well as being a member of the Academy of Medical Educators.

Kumar Dash

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Vice President BOTA, Golden Jubilee National Hospital

Mr Kumar Kaushik Dash is a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in hip and knee arthroplasty. After completing his Trauma and Orthopaedic training in the Wales Deanery, he undertook a post-CCT Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford, and joins the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Glasgow, as an Arthroplasty Consultant in September 2026.
Kumar is the Immediate Past Vice President of the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association (BOTA), having previously served as the BOTA Specialty Advisory Committee (SAC) Representative. Over two years, he worked closely with national stakeholders on the Trauma and Orthopaedic curriculum review. He is the lead author of the national IMPACT study, exploring trainee progression, fellowship training and consultant preparedness in UK orthopaedics. He is also an ATLS Instructor, educator, and author of multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.

Meg Baker

ST5 South Yorkshire; BOTA President

Meg is a South Yorkshire ST5 in Trauma and Orthopaedics and currently serves as President of BOTA. She has long demonstrated a strong commitment to medical education, beginning with the establishment of a society aimed at supporting local medical students to CSTs aspiring to enter orthopaedics. Her work has spanned exam and interview preparation, as well as broader mentorship initiatives. More recently, she has played a key role in developing the Yorkshire Educational Surgeons Collaborative, a network that brings together surgeons with a shared passion for education to collaborate, support one another, and advance educational programmes and research.

In addition to her regional and national work, Meg is also a Resident Co-Chair for the International Conference on Residency Education (ICRE) in Canada, where she contributes to the conference programme development and supports the organization's ongoing work.

Karen Chui

BOTA Past President, Trauma & Orthopaedic Registrar, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Rotation

Karen (she/they) is a Trauma and Orthopaedic Specialty Registrar in London on the Stanmore rotation. As BOTA Past President, Karen represented Orthopaedic trainees at national meetings, advocating to improve training and education opportunities for trainees. Karen campaigned for DEI in Orthopaedics and surgery to promote an environment in which surgeons and patients feel proud to be their authentic selves. They are passionate about creating cultural change in Orthopaedics, building a compassionate profession for the modern surgeon to deliver excellent care to our patients.
