Surgery is a less popular career choice than it was, and time spent on T&O for undergraduates has significantly reduced for many. So, we need to engage with medical students earlier and more effectively. Alistair Hunter is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and College Tutor; Adam Hexter is an NIHR-funded Academic Orthopaedic Registrar, both at University College London.
