The new Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery Curriculum has now been published and will be introduced next year after a 12 month delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Any new curriculum can appear daunting, but the changes made now put a particular emphasis on the assessment of the trainee, rather than to the syllabus which remains largely unchanged. There are aspects of the new curriculum, particularly the MCR (Multiple Consultant Report), which can be incorporated into training assessments. For over 10 years, the BOA has offered support and development for T&O trainees, TPDs and supervisors, and we will continue doing so by providing further updates to promote engagement with the new curriculum over the course of the next few months.
The introduction of the curriculum will be supported by a number of educational initiatives, including the BOA Virtual TOES course which is being offered to individuals and regions who wish to prepare for the changes the new curriculum will bring.
