The Extended Clinical Team - Elective Session 2026
The Extended Clinical Team - Elective Session
By the end of the day, we hope to learn from each other's unique perspectives and skill sets, which will ultimately lead to better outcomes for patients and more fulfilling professional development, improved workforce longevity, productivity, and professional satisfaction.
The Extended Clinical Team (ECT) session at Congress reflects the BOA’s commitment to engaging the wider trauma and orthopaedic workforce as the NHS evolves towards a larger, more innovative, compassionate and inclusive workforce. With recruitment and retention becoming increasingly challenging in a competitive labour market, the ECT plays a vital role in supporting service delivery and patient care.
Bringing together a range of healthcare professionals, the ECT enhances patient experience, expands training opportunities and strengthens multidisciplinary working. As growing elective surgery waiting lists place further pressure on stretched resources, collaborative working is essential to improve patient outcomes, share expertise and support workforce wellbeing.
Recognised as a key enabler of surgical training, the ECT supports the delivery of safe and effective services while helping meet the challenges facing healthcare today.
