The Extended Clinical Team - Elective Session

By the end of the day, we hope to learn from each other's unique perspectives and skill sets, which will ultimately lead to better outcomes for patients and more fulfilling professional development, improved workforce longevity, productivity, and professional satisfaction.

The Extended Clinical Team (ECT) session at congress is part of the BOA’s commitment to engaging the wider workforce in T+O, reflecting ongoing NHS transformations toward a larger, more innovative workforce that values compassion and inclusivity. Attracting and retaining a dedicated and enthusiastic workforce is becoming more difficult, and the NHS is competing in a labour market that is increasingly competitive.

The ECT brings together a variety of healthcare professionals to improve patient experience and training opportunities. 

Our healthcare landscape faces uncertain, difficult and challenging times ahead. The large number of patients waiting for elective surgery places increasing stress on already overstretched resources. Our workforce may feel at times feel exhausted, burnt out and demoralised. In these challenging times, it is vital that we work together as multidisciplinary teams to share different approaches and expertise, improve patient outcomes and job satisfaction.

The ECT has been recognised and reported as one of the most significant enablers of surgical training. It supports the delivery of services that are at least as safe and effective as those delivered by the traditional workforce model.

Important Information

Please note that all Friday sessions are face-to-face sessions and run concurrently; you will only be able to attend one event. 

Please Note: All Friday sessions need to be booked separately from the main Congress (Tuesday - Thursday) , and booking fees may apply.
