A practical, case-based programme for emerging hip surgeons

The transition from senior trainee or fellow to independent consultant practice is one of the most challenging stages in an orthopaedic surgeon’s career. For surgeons developing a specialist interest in young adult hip pathology, complex primary arthroplasty and revision hip surgery, structured educational opportunities remain limited.

The Hip Surgery Masterclass Webinar Series has been developed to address this gap. Built around real cases drawn from complex hip decision-making forums across the world, the series will provide practical, interactive teaching on all aspects of hip surgery.

Who should attend?

This series is aimed at senior orthopaedic trainees, post-CCT fellows and early-career consultants with an interest in hip surgery. It will also be relevant to consultants within the first 10 years of practice who wish to consolidate their approach to complex hip reconstruction.

Why attend?

This is not a conventional lecture series. Each webinar will focus on real-world cases and the evidence than underpins decision making.

Attendees will benefit from:

  • Case-based learning from real complex hip cases
  • International expert faculty
  • Practical, evidence-based approaches to decision-making
  • Interactive panel debate and audience participation
  • Virtual delivery, with planned on-demand access via BJJ Education / Orthomedia

Why this series is different

This programme brings together a global faculty of leading hip surgeons in a structured, longitudinal format focused on how experts think, plan and operate when cases are difficult. It is designed to build confidence, improve decision-making and support the development of the next generation of complex hip surgeons.

Hip Surgery Masterclass Programme Overview

The series will comprise 24 webinars delivered across four themed sections:

1. Trauma
Neck of femur and femoral head fractures, atypical fractures, acetabular fractures, periprosthetic fractures, failed fixation of proximal femoral fractures, and registry/biostatistical evidence.

2. Non-Arthroplasty Hip Pathology
Greater trochanteric pain and abductor pathology, FAI and labral pathology, dysplasia, sports-related hip conditions, rotational deformities, and the borderline hip.

3. Complex Primary Arthroplasty
Preoperative planning, acetabular abnormalities, complex femoral anatomy, high-risk primary THR, stiff or ankylosed hips, post-traumatic hips and case discussions.

4. Revision Arthroplasty
Revision planning, acetabular and femoral revision, infection management, instability, complications and complex revision case discussions.

If you are unable to attend a session live, all registrants will receive on-demand access to session recordings following each event. A CPD/CME certificate will be issued electronically following participation of the course.
