AI in Orthopaedics: Shaping the Future of Musculoskeletal Medicine

The BOA was delighted to host the 2025 AI in Orthopaedics and MSK conference on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd December 2025 at 10 Union Street, London.


This year's event showcased the future of orthopaedic care, bringing together global leaders in surgery, research, and technology to explore the transformative power of AI.  Speakers included Peter Devanee from New Zealand, who is both nationally and internationally recognised for his research involving modes of failure of total hip replacement and polyethylene wear. From the US Jing Xie, who is the Senior Vice President, Global Regulatory and Clinical Affairs at MicroPort Orthopedics Inc.

We also had contributions from Dr Ahmed MP, Parliamentary Secretary of State, David Lawson, Policy lead for Medical Technology & Innovation with responsibility for the implementation of the Government's inaugural Medical Technology Strategy published February 2023, Mark Fox & Subodh Tailor from NHS London Procurement Partnership. We were also joined by long standing supporter such has  Peter Harris, Director of Research Science at NielsenIQ, Professor Mohamed Imam who is a Clinical Lead for Trauma and Professor of Digital Health and Medical Director at the Smart Health Centre, Mustafa Alnaib an orthopaedic surgeon, MSK doctor, digital health consultant, and software developer with a strong focus on applying AI in clinical practice and many many more. 

Attendees experienced visionary keynotes highlighting breakthroughs that are redefining diagnostics, surgical precision, and patient outcomes.

Interactive hands-on workshops put cutting-edge AI tools directly into participants’ hands. The event offered a networking environment connected clinicians, developers, investors, and healthcare innovators, sparking collaborations that will shape the next generation of orthopaedic solutions.

The program also featured podium presentations showcasing pioneering research from around the world and expert panel discussions delving into the ethical, regulatory, and human factors of AI-driven care.

To celebrate excellence in the field, the event concluded with awards and recognition honoring the most impactful research and innovations, highlighting emerging leaders who are driving the future of AI in orthopaedics.
