Amar Rangan elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences
Congratulations Professor Amar Rangan, BOA Vice President Elect, on being elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, recognising his contributions to advancing medical science and groundbreaking research.
Amar is a Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon at South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust in Middlesbrough and is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, holding the Mary Kinross Trust & Royal College of Surgeons Chair at Department of Health Sciences and Hull York Medical School, University of York. He also holds a full Professorship with the Faculty of Medical Sciences & NDORMS, University of Oxford.
On receiving the Fellowship, Amar said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been elected to the Academy Fellowship.
"I owe it to my very talented colleagues, patients and public contributors who work with me in embedding impactful surgical research in the NHS, which continues to have a global influence. I now look forward to contributing to the influential work of the Academy.”
The Academy's 1,450 strong elected Fellowship consists of the most influential UK and global scientists, drawn from the NHS, academia, industry and public service.
