What: This is a 2-day accredited hand fixation workshop in combination with Medartis aimed at plastic and orthopaedic consultants and trainees who deal with hand fractures. (Please note that the course is followed by a 1-day wrist fixation workshop on 20 March). The faculty consist of national and international hand surgeons, with a high faculty to delegate ratio. The course will consist of a balanced mix of lectures, practical sessions (using saw bones) and discussion groups. Topics covered during the 2 days include: K-wires in fracture fixation Surgical approaches to the hand: metacarpal and phalanges Condylar fractures Locking plates Rolando fractures The course fee includes lunch, online course materials and an evening meal. This 3-day course will cover most of the core curriculum for the foot and ankle. Lectures aim to provide delegates with a core understanding of the management of common foot and ankle problems and topics include biomechanics and gait, the evaluation and treatment of forefoot, midfoot and hindfoot pain, the role of orthotics and what to prescribe. The Bristol Hip Arthroplasty Course is a well known international hip meeting which was initiated by John Newman in the late 1980s. it has since grown in stature and reputation. It is now co-convened by Evert Smith, Anthony Ward, Richie Gill, Richard Baker, Mehool Acharya and Michael Whitehouse. It attracts a strong international faculty and is well known for its debates after each session. The conference aspires to improve current practice and promote clinical excellence as the faculty present their views on issues valid to a hip practice including outcomes, new procedures, materials, bearing surfaces, design, primary and revision hip replacement and their complications.
