Dominic Meek

We are saddened to say that Council Member Dominic Meek passed away on 1st October 2026 after a long illness. Dominic was a highly valued member of BOA Council and a respected and much-loved colleague across the trauma and orthopaedic community. He made an outstanding contribution to orthopaedics throughout his career, particularly in the field of hip surgery, and his influence extended both nationally and internationally.

His dedication to the specialty was reflected in the many roles he held. He was an ABC Fellow, served as President of the British Hip Society and was a dedicated Specialty Editor of the Bone and Joint Journal.

Alongside his considerable professional achievements, Dominic will be remembered for the warmth, kindness and generosity he showed to those around him. He was a valued colleague and friend to many, and his loss will be deeply felt by BOA Council, colleagues throughout trauma and orthopaedics, and the wider orthopaedic community.

At this very difficult time, our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Judith, their four children, and all of Dominic’s family and friends.
