BOA statement regarding Stryker cyber attack

Dear Colleagues,

The BOA and Specialist Societies, working with NHS Supply Chain and NHS England, recommend that trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures continue as planned until further information is available.

Whilst the principles of this advice are identical for the devolved nations, the operational details will differ and be led by local arrangements.

Temporary alternative ordering systems are being introduced by Stryker representatives to facilitate accessing the significant current Stryker stock for use by the NHS.

We understand that identifiable patient information, such as that held by the Mako robotic systems, has not been compromised.

It is envisaged that we will be in a position to provide an update early next week.

Yours faithfully

Fergal Monsell           BOA President
