This course is designed for individuals preparing for the FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent examinations. Over the past 18 years, the course programme has been refined to comprehensively cover the entire syllabus, focusing on basic science and pathophysiology. It includes a series of lectures and interactive sessions spread over two days, addressing key topics such as tribology, biomechanics, pathophysiology, statistics, and microbiology, essential for both the written and oral exams. A significant component of the course is dedicated to viva practice, offering candidates approximately 6 hours of practice with experienced faculty, along with personalised feedback.

Understand current indications and patient selection for hip resurfacing Interpret contemporary registry and clinical outcomes data relating to resurfacing Recognise key surgical principles required to perform resurfacing safely and reproducibly Identify modes of failure and appropriate revision strategies Understand the engineering principles behind modern resurfacing implants and materials Appreciate the role of 2D and 3D planning and assistive technologies including psi and robotics in resurfacing surgery

Inspire interest in surgical careers. Provide insight into surgical training pathways, day-to-day practice, and career progression. Facilitate networking between medical students, trainees, and consultants.

This course is suitable for post-CCT surgeons on fellowship, surgeons in locum consultant posts, consultants within 3 years of appointment and surgeons in autonomous practice (e.g Specialist Doctors). A 1.5-day course, the £95 course fee includes accomodation and course dinner.
