Performance
[Intro Text]
Orthopaedic Outcomes
Since EA Codman introduced 'the end result' concept, orthopaedic surgeons have led the way in measuring outcomes and setting standards. It is important that we produce evidence of our success to promote and support our practice locally and nationally. This also needs to include Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs)
Appraisal for T&O Surgeons
Whether you are a newly appointed or an established trauma and orthopaedic consultant, the appraisal process can appear daunting and time-consuming. However, it need not be either and can, in fact, be supportive and rewarding.
Surgeon Performance
Maintaining and reviewing professional and clinical performance is an important part of consultant practice. Consultants should be familiar with their own clinical outcomes and activity, participate in appraisal and clinical governance processes, and respond appropriately where concerns about performance are identified.
