Theatres, surgery and perioperative care improvement guide

NHS England has updated the clinical and operational improvement guide focussing on:

elective: Increase percentage of patients waiting <18 weeks for their first appointment
urgent and emergency care: reduce the proportion of beds occupied by long stay patients (7+ days)

To complement this guide, an improvement analytics compartment for theatres and perioperative care has been launched in the Model Health System, which brings into one place the tracking indicators referenced in this guide for ease of access.

The document contains links to numerous other resources from NHS England, GIRFT, BADS and others, as well as a number of case studies.
