Robert Jones Essay
The BOA offers a prize of £500 and a gold medal in memory of Sir Robert Jones through an annual essay competition amongst members of all categories on a subject of orthopaedic interest.
The essay is to be submitted, typewritten in English (not exceeding 3,000 words, excluding references) and in PDF format, please submit as an electronic version saved on a USB. Please note the essay must be submitted anonymously, not bearing the name of the author, i.e. please give yourself a nom de plume or other unique identifier. When submitting the USB, please include a sealed envelope with your nom de plume on the outside and you name and contact details inside. Only the envelope of the successful candidate will be opened before the award is announced.
No award will be made unless a sufficient standard is achieved. The award is made by the President, with advice from such assessors as he may select. Exceptionally, in outstanding cases, more than one prize may be awarded. All awards will be formally reported to Council and recorded in the Annual Report.
